PartyPoker Eliminates Fees on Most Withdrawal Options
We have some good news if you play online poker at
PartyPoker. On July 31, the online poker room announced that it is
no longer charging for most of its withdrawal options.
Effective immediately,
PartyPoker will process withdrawals free of charge to its customers using MasterCard, Maestro, Visa, bank transfers, Kalixa Pay, goplay prepaid MasterCard, ClickAndBuy, and PayPal. There really is no downside here, since why would anyone want to pay to withdraw their winnings when they can do so free of charge?
Processing fees for withdrawals has been a longtime complaint of PartyPoker's players and the poker community at large. Many other major online poker rooms are not charging these fees and absorbing them into their overhead, putting
PartyPoker at a competitive disadvantage.
"Listening to the players is central to our ongoing strategy," said
Golan Shaked, PartyPoker's Director of Games. "When we started our Poker for the People campaign, withdrawal fees and our loyalty store were the two hottest topics raised at our live player forums," added Shaked.
Some players are still frustrated with this news, feeling it has not gone far enough. Withdrawals via the popular e-wallets
Neteller and
Skrill are still subject to the 3% processing fee the site has charged since 2013.
Shaked hinted that the company is strongly considering removing the withdrawal fees for Skrill and Neteller in the near future. "Our poker team has been working hard and we're really pleased to have addressed these two issues, but there's still work to be done," Shaked stated. "We will continue to look at ways to eliminate withdrawal fees from the small number of payment processors who currently charge a premium for their services."
It is great for the poker community to see
PartyPoker adapt to the needs of its players, especially at a time when the ownership of the company may change very soon. It appeared that a sale was finalized in July when 888 Holdings, the owner of the second largest poker room in the world,
888 Poker, announced it was finalizing a purchase of bwin.party for $1.4 billion.
It is believed that the bwin.party Board of Directors is reconsidering who to sell their company to, as since then, GVC Holdings, the owner of Sportingbet, increased its bid to $1.6 billion, which would provide more value to the investors of the company.
